*EDIT* 09.07.2008 after two years I decided to heavily repaint it. I still liked it, but it looked like crap. Now I'm quite fond of it again.. Here you can see a little animation how it looked before - [link]
hope you'll like it better.. ____________________
Sometimes they leave fingerprints..
well, i finally finished this one. took me few days. i believe technically it's my best piece so far; started out as just a hair practice..
i think i might make a tutorial for this one soon - covering custom brushes and shapes (the wallpaper here was painted manually with my custom textures added for the grain and the mood), painting hair, maybe some thoughts on skintones (her hand was a real pain).. i admit some places are quite wanky, but i just felt the need to leave it alone.
you have to excuse the cliche theme here, but lately i'm into stuff like that again, so bare with me it's actually that cliche for a reason, there's a story behind this one, as i'm planning to make a graphic novel.. one day, when i'll be less busy :/
anyway, as for some tech info: no direct reference used (most direct one was looking at my own hand when drawing it), although obviously i looked up many hair references at google, same as victorian wallpapers before i painted this design. as for the blood - it's painted with some brushes used to enchance it, later repainted for a more natural feeling. done in painter 7 and photoshop 7..
i hope you'll like it ^.^
oi, general work in progress and close up's are in my scraps here [link]
