For each challenge we interchangeably give ourselves an idea or topic to illustrate and a short, specified time to execute it in whatever shape or form... of course, without knowing what the others are going to come up with.
This week's topic is *vinegar's idea: Sensual Limbo. The title came from the Video Game Name generator (one of many online) which showed "Sensual Limbo Underworld" and the composition of the words seemed intriguing.
Disclaimer: This piece was actually finished before the Sandy Hook Massacre, we had a one week delay with the challenge. However I think it accidentally could be viewed as a work on the topic. Even though it wasn't made as one, it certainly shares some of the feelings I had regarding the whole thing. My deepest condolences to the families, this is an unimaginable tragedy.
Older info here, tech stuff:
I know it's something pretty unusual from me when you look at my gallery here.. then again my gallery here doesn't show even half of the ideas I have and styles I want to try.. It's one of those pieces..
Still unfinished, so it's more like a thumbnail of actual work. I was trying to find a good composition, a balance of colours and textures (I use my own or from CGTextures as a background, then I paint on them to have a more varied surface). The girl is pretty much finished though, she and the stone were the first elements I started with, the rest just sort of "grew" around them.
Beautiful artwork. When I come across artwork like yours. It really inspires me to go back to drawing by hand (via graphics tablet) than spending too much time with a mouse and the 3D Modeling software I have been experimenting with for the past 16 years. Going to keep the graphics tablet connected to my PC at all times from now on.
Looks interesting..... but... what's the concept? I mean.... what's the meaning of the Stone Cube? are they ghosts or are memories or souls or Banshees? we'll, it doesn't matter right now... but I think that the Finished Work would or will be great.... keep doing these amazing stuffs....
Amazing! I love the wispy ghosts surrounding the young girl. But they aren't scary, more like sad and almost protective. What happened at the Sandy Hook Massacre is truly tragic, my heart and prayers go out to those families. This picture, I believe, captures the essence of despair and sadness, but at the same times, gives a sense of love. They may be gone, but never forgotten. May they all rest in peace. And I take comfort in the fact that Adam Lanza will be judged by God, and God alone, for his crimes. This is a beautiful piece of artwork
I completely agree with what you said here.. This picture may not have been created at the time, but is an unintentional piece of emotion that fits perfectly. I hope there is some peace out there for the souls of all the little innocents who were lost in the tragedy
